Yeah! Apollo’s coat is DONE!!! I’m super happy with how it come out.
Gloves should be arriving tomorrow, so I can start the bandages (I’m making them removable so I can wash my hands and whatnot) & eyepatch, which is all I have left to make!
SUPER excited to wear this to Otakon. :D
We all took turns will Bobby’s bagde….. C:<

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH IT’S UNREAL.
Final cosplay test (sans makeup) for AwesomeCon tomorrow!
Minus a few more zipper fixes, Kate is good to go! Super excited for the con, can’t wait!
I found purple lensed sunglasses last-minute online, but the lenses are WAY TOO BIG for my face. So I’ll probably go with my normal sunglasses instead.
Well, Kate Bishop’s about 80% done at this point. Just need to find a headband/sunglasses and make sure the wig looks OK.
Gonna probably add a little loop to the back of the suit so that the belt stays in place. And try to fix the zipper as much as possible (the puckers are driving me a bit nuts, but at this point I feel like there isn’t much I can do about it. :/)
Maybe I’ll try to find a cheap plush dog to turn into
Pizza Dog Lucky???? Maybe???
Overall, I’m very pleased, especially since this the first garment I’ve ever made from a knit/stretch fabric EVER!
Since I never seemed to have made a post 3 months ago and it’s getting to be that time of the year when it becomes “SEW ALL THE THINGS” time: COSPLAY PLANS 2014, GO.
Cosplay plans for this year are:
- Kate Bishop/Hawkeye [Franction/Aja version]
- Tashigi [timeskip] (I know I finished her last year, but I’m gonna be fixing a few things up)
- Apollo Justice [GS5 version]
- Mako Mankanshoku (with hopefully my BFF as Ryuko)
- Donald Duck gijinka (for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!!!!)
I’m also making Disney costumes for my parents & boyfriend for MNSSHP. It’s gonna be so much fun~
Tentative Planned Conventions for this year are:
- Awesome Con DC [Kate]
- Otakon [Tashigi/Apollo/Mako]
- Anime USA (MAYBE. Depends on work schedule & money!) [cosplays unsure]
I’ve gotten a lot of materials for things already. So excited for the costumes I’m making this year!!! :D
Progress on my Kate Bishop cosplay is coming along pretty nicely! The suit itself only needs the legs hemmed, the shoulder cutout made, and just finagling little details. The I gotta accessorize the whole thing (headband/belt/gloves/etc.)! I should have this cosplay done forAwesomeCon in a few weeks!!!
I’ve never sewn this much spandex before so I’m pretty proud of what I’ve made so far.
my workspace is a mess I’m so sorry
Milo Thatch king of my heart <3
— lemme just, this cosplayer was absolutely the cutest and the sweetest person I have ever talked to. You were lovely and I hope your con was beautiful <3
This Milo is me!!
Oh gosh oh gosh OH GOSH thank you so much for your kind words. ;____; I’m absolutely flattered!!
Thank you so much for the photo and for stopping and chatting! I hope your con was absolutely lovely too!!!!
Got the photos back from the shoot I had with Tofu at Katsucon and OH GOSH, I’M SO HAPPY.
I’ve been cosplaying as Apollo since 2008 and this is the first formal photoshoot I’ve had with this costume!
The Ace Attorney series is one of my all-time favourite video games, not just for the characters and story (which are WONDERFUL), but also because the fans of the series are pretty much the best. I gave this cosplay a bit of a fix-up in 2010, and am super happy with the improvement!
The vest is made from linen (red fabric) & gabardine (black fabric). The tie is also linen, and is the only sewn part of the costume I HAVEN’T remade at some point. :’) Blouse was purchased. I also made my attorney’s badge! It’s made out of Model Magic & painted with acrylics.
My bracelet had been the one part of the costume I struggled with. In the few years I’ve worn this costume, I’ve re-made the bracelet 4 times. I ended up finding a 3D printed version on Etsy from a shop called Cosplastic. It’s AMAZING. breaks apart into 2 pieces, and fits together with magnets! A little loose on my tiny baby wrists, but that’s fine!
I styled the wig myself. it’s a “Cher” I bought on Amphigory when I first made the costume (though it’s been re-styled a few times since I bought it)! I’d love to attempt his crazy-ass hairline someday, but I can’t find wefts in the right shade of brown. :C
I LOVE THIS COSTUME SO MUCH. For Otakon I’ll be cosplaying as Bandaged!Polly. Can’t wait to make Clay’s old jacket (I’ll be cry-sewing).

Photos I got of my friend Capskat26 in their adorable Milo cosplay which makes me freaken squeal every time. <3
GOSH, thank you so much!!!
These photos look great!!
I got the first of the photos I got taken at Katsucon this weekend and WOW WOW WOW I love them.
(I guess since I never really did a formal write-up for Milo when I debuted him in 2010 that I’ll do that now)
Atlantis is one of my favourite Disney movies ever, so when my roommate a few years ago suggested we cosplay it together, I was psyched. Unlike most cosplays that I make from scratch, this one was primarily found items.
The pants & sweater were found on various military surplus sites. Unfortunately, I don’t think either has them in stock anymore. :( This was the first time wearing this costume that I got to wear the green trench, which I found at a Goodwill or on eBay, I can’t remember. I made the spats from rib knit.
The Atlantis patch and journal came as a set! It was SUPER LUCKY eBay find. The journal was actually given to the feature animation crew (and has that stamped on the back cover)! it never left my side all weekend, hahaha. I’m pretty protective about that journal.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this costume. So much. People’s reactions and smiles when they recognize the character & movie just make my heart melt with joy. I did a second shoot with a Kidakagash cosplayer too, so hopefully I’ll have those pictures soon!

Since Katsucon is a week away, time to make one last post about my cosplay lineup for the weekend!
DIMINISHED PHYSIQUE & LARGE FOREHEAD CON 2014.
Thursday: Not cosplaying, but I’ll be wearing my SPACE DRESS for the first time! It looks pretty damn neat-o, I just gotta figure out what to wear with the dress!
Friday: Apollo Justice! Super excited to meet up with other Ace Attorney cosplayers. Apollo is one of my favourite cosplays to wear, and the fellow fans I’ve interacted with over the years have helped make it so! I’m also going to be taking the first formal photoshoot with this costume since I first made it back in 2008, so that’ll be SICK.
(I bought socks with constellations on them and I’m gonna wear them with Polly igaf)
Saturday: Milo Thatch! I FINALLY GET TO WEAR THIS COSTUME TO A CON WHERE IT WON’T BE 100 DEGREES OUT. Seriously, those wool pants are SWELTERING. It’ll also be the first time I’ll be wearing the green trench with the cosplay. Got it when I first put the costume together, but alas…. Connecticon & Otakon. It was hot. I’ll also be attending the Disney gathering at 3! Now if I can just figure out where i put my little toy Leviathan….
I MIGHT bring my Seal/Selkie dress for evenings, since it’s comfy. Depends on how much room I have in the suitcase!
Sunday: Most likely Space Dress again. Will be leaving fairly early due to an 11:00 checkout time.
Super excited for this convention! It’ll be my first Katsucon since 2008. If you’re cosplaying from Ace Attorney or Atlantis or Disney or whatnot, please shoot me a message! I’d love to say hello!
What are your upcoming Katsucon plans?
When you’re friend is trying to take a nice cosplay photo…
I decided to go as a Seal/Selkie this year for Halloween!
The pattern for the dress was originally a pattern for a hooded sweatshirt. It was modified heavily. In the two mock-ups I made to perfect the design, I added length to the bottom, darts to the front and back, and cut the back to look like flippers!
The final product is made from faux suede and lined with flannel for warmth. The face details on the hood are a combination of appliqué, machine satin stitching, and hand embroidery. I even added whiskers! The teeth are beads I found the day before I wore this, hahaha. The spots on the back were all hand-painted.
Costume was paired with pleather leggings. My wig is a Rufio from Arda Wigs. It’s a great wig! I ended up wearing this costume to a Halloween event at the National Zoo in DC, and had a blast doing so!! I can’t wait to wear it again!
