PHOTOS PART 1 (via Nancy’s tumblr)
This past Otakon on Saturday, I cosplayed as the Dual Destinies version of Apollo Justice.
The cosplay itself are the same vest, tie & pants from my GS4 Apollo costume. The coat I made from scratch and is made of poplin & lined with a poly/cotton suiting. All the white details, cuffs, and the insignia patches on the sleeves are done in faux suede for contrast. Because of the rounded look in the artwork, I chose to use piping instead of bias tape on the edges. The insignia are also satin stitch appliquéd onto the sleeves. The epaulettes are faux suede with satin stitched appliqué, with a piece of craft foam in the center. The stars are rivets. I took a bit of artistic liberties and took black fabric paint to the bottom to give a “charred” look to the coat. For the “bandages” I used fusible webbing to attach strips of knit fabric to gloves. I’ll probably be re-making them, with better adhesive, and longer gloves!!! The eyepatch is a strip of the same fabric, since it held to my face very well!
I got to do a photoshoot that evening with the LOVELY Nancy M, and good GOSH that was one of the most fun shoots I’ve ever had. The hotel we worked at was gorgeous and the sunset and breeze outside were great and AAAAHHH I’m in love with these photos!

(tbh The only reason why it’s taken me so long to make a write-up of this costume is because these photos left me SPEECHLESS with joy.)
My tights came in today, which means my costume of one Mr. Donald Fauntleroy Duck is FINISHED! I’m so happy with how everything looks together. SO EXCITED FOR MICKEY’S NOT-SO-SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY NEXT MONTH!!!!!
Found out today that I’m definitely going to the MD Renaissance Faire on Sunday, so I gotta put something together!
I knew I wanna wear the selkie “skin” dress I made for Halloween last yr. I jut gotta figure out accessories! (I really like gray & red as a combination). Might try to make a pouch that ISN’T PINK.
I’ll be wearing pleather leggings & boots with the outfit too. Warrior selkie yessssss
No matter what happens, I will use this Shigure to practice and get stronger!
My cosplay of Captain Tashigi from One Piece at Otakon 2014!!
Even though I finished the costume last year, this year at I was able to do a photoshoot! The fountains and harbour were the perfect location!!!
The blouse, coat, and bootcovers I made from scratch, and the sword & gloves were modified items.
Tashigi is one of my favourite characters in One Piece, and I enjoy cosplaying her so much! I hope to wear this costume again soon!

holy shit i LOVE these photos so much it was SO! hard choosing just four for the photoset. Rachel was so passionate and SO EXCELLENT to work with this weekend and i’m way too excited to finish editing all of her lovely photos :o)
OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH I’M IN LOVE WITH THESE PHOTOS
(omg you can catch a small glimpse of my constellation socks in the second pic whaaaaaaaugh ;A; )
I’ve been cosplaying as Apollo since 2008, and it’s one of my favourite all-time cosplays. I knew as soon as Apollo’s new design came out for Dual Destinies that I was GOING to cosplay it at Otakon this year (and that want was solidified after I played the game).
I worked really damn hard on Clay’s old coat & fixed up my wig by adding a widow’s peak & sideburns. And the photoshoot I had with Nancy was just SO MUCH FUN and these photos I think really capture that. :))))
My friend Jade sent me the couple of photos she took of my Captain Tashigi cosplay Friday at Otakon and OH GOSH I LOVE THEM!!!
I love cosplaying Tashigi so much. One Piece was babby’s first fandom and continues to be one of my favourite series of all time. I did a photoshoot in the harbour that day too, and I’ll be posting those pics once I get them in a few weeks!!!

a collection of the one piece cosplays that i found while i was at otakon! everyone was so kind when i asked for a picture, and they were all absolutely amazing. there were a ton more that i didn’t come across or didn’t have the opportunity to ask for a picture, and i wasn’t able to fit the photoshoots into my schedule, but i can’t wait to see the pictures that others got.
if you recognize someone or you’d like yourself to be tagged, please tell me and i’ll do so immediately (and thank you for making my weekend)!

Aww yeah!!! That’s me as Tashigi!!! :D
Found a Smoker cosplayer at the One Piece meetup!!
LAST OTAKON POST I SWEAR
Just re-posting my final lineup for this weekend!
I’ll be at the One Piece gathering Friday night (7:30, outdoor fountains), and the Ace Attorney gathering (4:30, 2nd floor skywalk) too!
Thurs/Sun/Late Night I won’t be in cosplay, but I’ll be wearing a snazzy outfit with my favourite vest! Look for the “UNLEASH FURY” patch. ;)
Hope to see you there?
Yeah! Apollo’s coat is DONE!!! I’m super happy with how it come out.
Gloves should be arriving tomorrow, so I can start the bandages (I’m making them removable so I can wash my hands and whatnot) & eyepatch, which is all I have left to make!
SUPER excited to wear this to Otakon. :D

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH IT’S UNREAL.
Final cosplay test (sans makeup) for AwesomeCon tomorrow!
Minus a few more zipper fixes, Kate is good to go! Super excited for the con, can’t wait!
I found purple lensed sunglasses last-minute online, but the lenses are WAY TOO BIG for my face. So I’ll probably go with my normal sunglasses instead.
Well, Kate Bishop’s about 80% done at this point. Just need to find a headband/sunglasses and make sure the wig looks OK.
Gonna probably add a little loop to the back of the suit so that the belt stays in place. And try to fix the zipper as much as possible (the puckers are driving me a bit nuts, but at this point I feel like there isn’t much I can do about it. :/)
Maybe I’ll try to find a cheap plush dog to turn into
Pizza Dog Lucky???? Maybe???
Overall, I’m very pleased, especially since this the first garment I’ve ever made from a knit/stretch fabric EVER!
Since I never seemed to have made a post 3 months ago and it’s getting to be that time of the year when it becomes “SEW ALL THE THINGS” time: COSPLAY PLANS 2014, GO.
Cosplay plans for this year are:
- Kate Bishop/Hawkeye [Franction/Aja version]
- Tashigi [timeskip] (I know I finished her last year, but I’m gonna be fixing a few things up)
- Apollo Justice [GS5 version]
- Mako Mankanshoku (with hopefully my BFF as Ryuko)
- Donald Duck gijinka (for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!!!!)
I’m also making Disney costumes for my parents & boyfriend for MNSSHP. It’s gonna be so much fun~
Tentative Planned Conventions for this year are:
- Awesome Con DC [Kate]
- Otakon [Tashigi/Apollo/Mako]
- Anime USA (MAYBE. Depends on work schedule & money!) [cosplays unsure]
I’ve gotten a lot of materials for things already. So excited for the costumes I’m making this year!!! :D
