Hello.... Would you happen to have a tutorial on how you made your Donald Hat? My bf and I are cosplaying as Daisy and Donald and I'm having trouble with his hat.

Hi there!

I’ll try to explain how I made the hat as best as I can—- I kinda spent the whole time winging it and hoping it would work out….

The main body is two circles (I used a dinner plate as a template).
For the black part, cut out a rectangle 3-5”x your head circumference on the fold (so it’ll be 6-10” x your head. I recommend you make a mockup first). Interface the band, then fold in half, right sides together, and sew the long side shut. Flip right side out, add the elastic (I cut my elastic 2” shorter than my head and adjusted it just a bit smaller so the band is snug), and then sew the short ends together. Machine stitch the band to the bottom of the hat as best as you can (I ESPECIALLY winged this part).

THEN, Sew the big circles right sides together, and cut a slit on the bottom just big enough to flip right side out. Stuff with Polyfill (the stuff you use in plushies), and then hand stitch the opening closed.

The dent is made with heavy duty thread and an upholstery needle. I pulled the thread all the way through until the fabric was gathered. Repeat sewing the dent until it’s nice and secure. Make the little black “ribbon” by sewing the two pieces together, flip right side out, then hand sew it to the top. Add a button over the “ribbon”, and you’re done!

I tried to make as best a “pattern” as I could.

It’s kinda shitty, but I hope it helps visualize things a bit. I was kind of winging things most of the time hoping it would turn out ok, hahaha (I also used an old Donald Duck plushie I got when I was a kid as a reference).

I hope this helps you!!!

ranting about Disney World rides, ignore me.

Found out today that I’m definitely going to the MD Renaissance Faire on Sunday, so I gotta put something together!

I knew I wanna wear the selkie “skin” dress I made for Halloween last yr. I jut gotta figure out accessories! (I really like gray & red as a combination). Might try to make a pouch that ISN’T PINK.

I’ll be wearing pleather leggings & boots with the outfit too. Warrior selkie yessssss

I finished making Donald’s hat today!!!! which means all I have left to do is buy yellow-orange tights and I’m finished with the costume!!!
Will probably colour in the thread black, but the only super heavy duty thread I had was white, and I wanted to make sure I used a thread strong enough to hold the hat pretty steady (even though it’s a very lightweight hat!!)

No matter what happens, I will use this Shigure to practice and get stronger!

My cosplay of Captain Tashigi from One Piece at Otakon 2014!!

Even though I finished the costume last year, this year at I was able to do a photoshoot! The fountains and harbour were the perfect location!!!

The blouse, coat, and bootcovers I made from scratch, and the sword & gloves were modified items.

Tashigi is one of my favourite characters in One Piece, and I enjoy cosplaying her so much! I hope to wear this costume again soon!
